Q: Hi, Destiny! Can you tell us about your internship role and the company you interned with? Key responsibilities?

A: Hi! Absolutely! In my role as a marketing intern for Sodexo, I was responsible for supporting various marketing campaigns, conducting market research, assisting in social media management, and helping to create promotional materials. This position allowed me to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic corporate environment.

Q: What skills did you develop during your internship?

A:  During my internship, I developed several key skills that will be valuable in my marketing career. These included market research, where I conducted and analyzed market surveys. I also gained experience in digital marketing by creating and managing content for social media platforms and email campaigns. Additionally, the internship helped me strengthen my communication skills, allowing me to collaborate effectively with both team members and external partners. Finally, I developed strong project management abilities, learning to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.

Q: How did your internship complement your academic studies?

A: My internship at Sodexo complemented my academic studies by allowing me to apply theoretical concepts from my marketing courses to real-world scenarios. It bridged the gap between classroom learning and practical application, providing a deeper understanding of marketing strategies and business operations.

Q: What was the biggest challenge you faced during your internship and how did you overcome it?

A: The biggest challenge I faced was managing multiple projects with deadlines. To overcome this, I improved my time management skills by prioritizing tasks, setting clear goals, and using productivity tools to stay organized. This approach helped me deliver high-quality work on time.

Q: How did the experience help you grow professionally and personally?

A: Professionally, the internship honed my marketing skills and expanded my industry knowledge. Personally, it boosted my confidence and improved my problem-solving abilities. Working in a corporate environment taught me the importance of teamwork, adaptability, and effective communication.

A: Although I did not receive any job offers directly from my internship at Sodexo, I made valuable professional connections. These connections have provided guidance, mentorship, and networking opportunities that will be beneficial as I continue to pursue my career goals.

A: I would advise current students to actively seek internships as they offer invaluable experience and insights into the professional world. Choose internships that align with your career interests, and be open to learning and taking on new challenges. Networking and building relationships with colleagues are also crucial for long-term career development.
